Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
This document was originally written in Spanish and translated into English so that you can read it in the language in which you contract the service. Both versions have been checked clause by clause and say the same thing. If you contracted in English, this English version is the one that governs your agreement with us; the Spanish version governs for users who contracted at areacacao.com/es/. In the unlikely event of a discrepancy between the two, the reading more favorable to you prevails, and in all cases the mandatory consumer protection law of your country of residence applies. You can read the Spanish version of this document at areacacao.com/es/.
This Cookie Policy applies to the website areacacao.com and to all of its subdomains and associated services, both those currently existing and those added in the future under the same root domain.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) when you visit them. These technologies allow the site to remember your actions and preferences for a period of time, so that you do not have to set them again every time you return.
In addition to traditional cookies, this website and the professional application use similar browser local storage technologies for equivalent purposes, mainly for session management and authentication. In this policy, the term "cookies" is used broadly to refer both to cookies in the strict sense and to these similar technologies, unless otherwise indicated.
2. Who is responsible?
The party responsible for the use of cookies and similar technologies on this website is Contenfo LLC, with address at 1309 Coffeen Avenue STE 1200, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States, operator of the AreaCacao service. For any question you may contact us at privacy@areacacao.com.
3. Cookies and similar technologies we use
Set out below are the cookies and local storage technologies that this website currently uses:
Cookies:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consent cookie | Store the user's consent preferences on the public website. | 12 months | Strictly necessary |
| Session cookie | Identify the authenticated user in the professional application. Without this cookie it is not possible to access the account. | Up to 7 days | Strictly necessary |
| Anti-forgery protection cookie (CSRF) | Verify that actions which modify data come from the user themselves and not from a malicious external site. | Active session | Strictly necessary |
Browser local storage in the professional application
Additionally, the professional application uses browser local storage technologies (storage spaces that the browser reserves per site) in order to work correctly. These storages are NOT cookies and are NOT sent to the server with each request, but it is appropriate to declare them for the sake of transparency:
| Type of storage | Purpose | Persistence | How it is deleted |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interface preferences | Remember the user's personal settings in the application (expanded panels, chosen views, recent filters). It does not contain identifiable data. | Until the session is closed or the browser storage is cleared. | On logging out, the application clears these preferences automatically. |
| Transient state of the authentication flow | Temporary information used during login and the subsequent redirection. | Active session, until the flow is completed. | It is deleted automatically when the flow ends. |
| Offline storage for working without a connection | Makes it possible to keep working on drafts when the internet connection is intermittent (especially in the Sensory Analysis module). It only contains data entered by the user themselves. | Until the session is closed. | On logging out, the application deletes this storage entirely. |
These storages form part of the strictly necessary operation of the professional application. If they are disabled in the browser, part of the offline functionality may stop working, but the application remains usable with an internet connection.
Currently, all cookies and storage technologies used on the public website and in the professional application are of astrictly necessary nature. No cookies or technologies of an analytics, advertising or marketing nature are used.
4. Categories
Essential
These are strictly necessary for the operation of the website. They include the consent cookie and the local storage technologies used for authentication and session management. They are always active and do not require prior consent, in accordance with the applicable regulations (GDPR, ePrivacy and their LATAM equivalents).
Analytics
Not currently active. AreaCacao does not have any third-party analytics cookies or technologies active on this website (Google Analytics or others). If they were to be implemented in the future, they would only be loaded after obtaining your explicit consent, and this policy would be updated to reflect the changes before their activation.
Marketing
Not currently active. AreaCacao does not use marketing, retargeting or advertising tracking cookies or technologies (Meta Pixel, Google Ads or others). If they were to be implemented in the future, they would require your prior and explicit consent before their activation.
5. How to manage cookies?
You may change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the "Manage cookies" link that you will find in the footer of our website. Doing so will open the preferences panel, where you can check the status of each category.
In addition, you can configure your browser to reject or delete cookies. Below we indicate where to do so in the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
The exact names of these options change with each browser version; if you cannot find the path shown here, please check the browser's own help pages.
Please bear in mind that blocking certain cookies or deleting the browser's local storage may affect the operation of the website, including the need to log in again when the authenticated service is available.
6. Consent
Currently, this website uses exclusively essential cookies and technologies that do not require prior consent. No non-essential cookie or technology is loaded.
When you save your preferences, we will store a cookie (areacacao_cookie_consent) with the following information: policy version, date and time of consent, accepted categories. Consent expires after 12 months, at which point it will be requested again.
If optional categories (analytics, marketing or others) were to be added in the future, your prior and explicit consent will be requested before their activation, and you will be offered the possibility of accepting, rejecting or configuring your preferences granularly. In that case we will update the cookie version in order to request consent again.
You may review and change your preferences at any time from the "Manage cookies" link in the footer.
Scope of the cookie banner and panel: the consent banner and the "Manage cookies" panel apply only to the public website. The authenticated professional application uses exclusively cookies and technologies strictly necessary for the operation of the service (session management, anti-forgery security), and therefore does not require a consent banner under the applicable regulations.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals
Global Privacy Control (GPC). We recognize the Global Privacy Control signal sent by certain browsers and privacy extensions. When your browser sends it, we treat it as a valid opt-out request: the analytics and marketing categories remain switched off and are not shown as accepted in the preferences panel, without you having to do anything else. If you wish, you can switch them on manually from the "Manage cookies" panel; in that case your express choice prevails over the signal.
Do Not Track (DNT). We do not respond in any specific way to the "Do Not Track" signal, since there is no uniform technological standard for its interpretation. However, no tracking technology is loaded without prior consent, so the practical effect is equivalent to the one requested by that signal.
8. Changes to this policy
Contenfo LLC reserves the right to update this Cookie Policy at any time. Any modification will be published on this same page with a revised last updated date. If new cookie categories are added or analytics or marketing services are activated, this policy will be updated before their activation and your consent will be requested again.
